Destruction of Deimos

On New Year's Eve 2335, squadrons led by Admiral Anne Sandoval mutinied from the Loyalist armada approaching Mars.  In the ensuing struggle, the Loyalists bombard the Rebel stronghold on Deimos, shattering the moon and destroying the University.  In a manner of seconds, eight hundred thousand people die, but that was just the beginning.  Sandoval’s Rebel fleet retreated into the Belt and the following year will see massive bombardments of both Terra and Venus.
